HDD adaptor vs battery life...?

[ Edited ]

Hi guys,

Pardon me if my question have been discussed before, could not locate any threads...

I am thinking of buying the HDD adaptor for my T410 so that I can place a 2nd HDD in the optical drive, thought of putting in 1Tb. My question is, how much battery life will be affected if I go that direction?

Any inputs will be greatly appreciated :smileyhappy:

Re: HDD adaptor vs battery life...?

Generally it will drain as much as relugar HDD inside. Usually going to have impact about 30-60 mins battery life - depending on usage of that HDD.

7200rpm HDDs drain more and often are more loud and definitelly get a bit more hot than 5400 prm. Therefore I would suggest to with 5400rpm HDD.

Re: HDD adaptor vs battery life...?

You can click the disconnect device icon in the system tray to turn the drive off when you're not using it to conserve battery. Just slide the adaptor part way out and push it back in when you need to use the drive again.
