T61 accessories (docking station and Ultra slim bay) [ Edited ]

Hi,

I currently own a T61 and all the accessories (Docking station, Ultra Slim bay DVD, additional hard drive, etc)

I need to buy another laptop.  I like IBM / Lenovos.  What other models can I look at?  Can the accessories from the T Series be shared with the X, R, 3000 (N, V, Y), Ideapad, etc. 

Please advice.

Hi dbcafy, welcome to the forum,

your dock can be used with the R-series with exceptions R6*e and some R6*i. It cannot be used with the X-series, 3000 series or ideapads.

The drives can be used with the R-series with the same exceptions as above. They can also be used with the X-series but only in the X6 Ultrabase. They cannot be used with the 3000 series or ideapads.

I think in short, if you wish to use your accessories with another TP, you can either get another T, an X with an Ultrabase or an R after checking carefully. (N.B. Some R-series with integrated graphics do not support the DVI port on the dock - this is a BIOS issue and not hardware).

Sorry, but no.

They are not compatible because; T4* series have 16V and T6* 20V. The attachment was changed in order to stop users making a fatal mistake of using a wrong device. I could go into cooling methods / fan positions etc. but unfortunately that will not change the answer.
