X1300 is obsolete and it is not well supported in newer Catalyst packages. There has to be something faster I can use.

Hi axelm!
According to the technical information for the 2503 Advanced Dock's PCI Express slot, it's specs are:
You need to search for cards which match these specs.

Hello Axelm,
I would like to confirm that only the ATI Radeon X1300 graphics card was tested and approved for the 2503 Advanced Port Replicator. Lenovo also tried multiple graphic cards following the ATI Radeon X1300. This included: ATI Radeon 2400 Pro, 2400XT, and NVIDIA NVS 290, and others. The technical challenges were too difficult to overcome. Installing a graphic card into the Port Replicator was conflicting with the integrated or discrete graphics processor in the ThinkPad.
Typically, installing a graphics card into a ThinkCentre disables the integrated graphics ports. For ThinkPad, this was not the case.
Also, ThinkPad power management "hibernate and suspend" features create a "hot plugging" condiition which is not supported by PCI-e Express.
