Re: Skype Video

The current market version should work... have you found otherwise?

Re: Skype Video

Just tried a quick Skype with my wife (sitting across from each other).

NO JOY on the video out of the A1.

Could see her camer  just fine. Could NOT see me in the small sending box. Tried both cameras and both did not work.

Any hints would be appreciated!

I get the same thing. No video, just audio. One of the reasons I bought this was because I'd read that it does do Skype video. sigh.

Re: Skype Video

Did you check the setting in Skype to enable video?  Skype can run on Tegra 2 platform, though it's not officially supported.

Re: Skype Video

YES tried all of the setting I could get to.
When Skype comes up I;
select the contact
tap "Skype video call"
It comes up and rigs the contact
AND I see a black screen (NO picture) with a note at the top of the screen that says, "Initializing camera".

I never get a picture and one is never sent.

Re: Skype Video

ALSO,

in the basic setup I have;
"Enable video calling" checked
"Enable rotation and zoom" checked
"Receive video calls from" contacts (wife IS one of my contact ;-)
"Show my video to" set to "Anyone"
"Video quality" on high (tried setting to low with no diff.

Re: Skype Video

Skype works wonderfully on the HTC Thunderbolt. The Tegra single core is just fine. It's not the chip, it's this device. As I've written as well, playback of any video is poor and any HD video is unwatchable. The phone plays HD video reasonably smoothly.

The Skype issue is the same - the app sees that it is video capable but cannot find the front facing camera (or any camera for that matter.) I'm surprised to find that video functions on this device don't work very well. Hopefully the company will be behind supporting this device. I'm surprised that it has Gingerbread only but you can't expect them to dump these out without having made sure they worked properly just for simple things that have worked properly on comparable devices.

Re: Skype Video

One of the issues on this forum is that the K1 and the A1 are in the same place. The K1 works, it is an entirely different device, different processor, speeds, memory, operating system etc...

The A1 is the one on which Skype video currently does not work.
