Hey everyone,
Just saw few pictures of thinkpad i Series 1400 for the first time, just wondering what's that big red thingy near the trackpoint buttons?
These are pictures of two different i 1400 systems:-

Thanks!

Although plausible but what are the odds of two of them having been affixed with same kind of stickers at the same place apparently?

the red dot is definitely a sticker. what it says, i don't know, but it was installed on quite a few i-series from what i remember from past photos.
i think it's like one of those warnings attached to pillows saying not to remove under penalty of law except by the end user. haha ![]()

The odds are incredibly high when you consider that sticker was affixed by manufacturing. As I recall, the sticker touts the ability to control the CD ROM (play, pause, skip through tracks) using the buttons on the front of the palm rest even when the system is powered off.

Makes a lot more sense now. I thought it was a trackball or something.
Thanks for clarification bloo and erik.
