Good luck with your pursuit. I have slowed down my hobby by a considerable margin this year, since i need to put the money towards other uses.

Since when did u start that collection?
I normally update my laptop maybe every 2-3 years. Although I dont physically have a few of the older thinkpads from before anymore, so I couldnt stack them as high as I should. Although I still have my most recent ones.

i started with T40, but thinkpads were fairly expensive then. I started the collection hobby in earnest around 4 to 5 years ago when i got the T60.

Don't know if this is the right forum or not, but if you had a choice of one Thinkpad which one would you choose as a backup, semi-nostalgic type of Thinkpad ?
I have set-up many Thinkpads for friends and neighbours, but never owned one myself since I dislike using laptops. I am planning of just picking one up in prestine condition because I consider the Thinkpad a work of technilogical art and a collector's item, so which one would it be ? I have T40, T42, T43, T60, X30, X40, A31 to choose from, from someone not into Thinkpad history, my preference right now is the T43 or X40.

Hello to all! I am new to here.
This is my little Thinkpad collection - 15 pieces (and more than 25 other brand machines).
8 of them are working and in good or excellent condition. T43/dock, X61t, X22/Ultrabase, 600X, 390, 760E, 365E, 755Cs. And 7 in average or poor condition or non-working - 701C, 755CD (it only needs replacement of RAM board), 770X, 760C, T23, X20 (only needs new LCD), 390E.

Welcome laureldo, and thanks for sharing!
Always nice to meet someone who loves collecting these older models. No true collection would be complete without the 701C and its cool ButterFly keyboard. I have one of those in my collection also.
I sold my TransNote a while back. Someone made me an offer that was too good to refuse ![]()
I guess that's the struggle every Thinkpad collector faces- when to hang on to that classic member of his collection, (and keep his garage, attic and billiard table cluttered), and when to ship her off to Siberia with love LOL ![]()
