Re: Thinkpad R series Order / Shipping Thread

Sorry to hear that chartist, I had this problem also, i booked my order on 19 march, and had 7 april as my esd, then i  called lenovo like after 5 business days, the rep told me that my order have been shifted to 14 april then some days later 18 april, then I asked for compensation n all, then miracly my esd on their record changed to 5 april, and i finally got it shipped on 5th april. but as u said one cant rely on esd that site shows, because my esd on site never changed from 7 april.
I was also very upset with all the blogs related to lenovo poor customer satisfaction. so I kept calling them like evry second working day just to make them feel that i need it. and also if someone is ordering something then better to call and order as u can ask them which things r in stock n all.

I also not very sure that such a big name company can survive with such a poor customer satisfaction...

Re: Thinkpad R series Order / Shipping Thread

Chartist10,

Sorry I didn't get back to you and we lost you as a customer.:smileysad:

All,

For others reading these, I agree that Lenovo must deliver high quality customer service.   The long waits exhibited in these threads have almost entirely been reflective of Canadian order experiences.  The US orders have been shipping much faster in general - that is to say, the overall order to delivery cycle has been shorter.  That said, the order environment in Canada is continuing to improve as well, with fewer exceptions noted here in the forum.

Recently, I'm seeing a number of US customers receiving long lead times upon the order confirmation email.  I'm uncertain as to why these overly cautious / pessimistic estimated ship dates are being provided.  Many of these have then shipped in days, perhaps 10 days or less from date of order despite the long lead time dates.

Re: Thinkpad R series Order / Shipping Thread

Just to set the record straight, I live in Los Angeles and the last time I checked, that was in the United States. It maybe that Canadian residents are having more issues, but if my order is any indication, the U.S may have its problems as well. I gave Lenovo every opportunity to keep my small and insignificant business. I private messaged Mark, called customer service multiple times, suggested solutions such as "ship it with a 6 cell battery rather than a 9 cell", to no avail.  Yet, no one could resolve it and no one has called me or emailed me to say, "let us make this right and get this thing expedited."

Re: Thinkpad R series Order / Shipping Thread

I placed my order on 3/25 and was given an ESD of 4/11.  Today, my ESD has been moved to 5/14!!  So I called Customer Service and was told that my order would ship 4/19.  When I asked why the website had 5/14, the lady replied they didn't follow that because it was just a computer generated date.  That doesn't give me as a customer a very good feeling--why the inconsistency between the information on the website and what she was able to find out by putting me on hold for 2 minutes?

So I really don't know what's happening.  I kind of feel like I was told a date that was one week out from today to get me off the phone.  This was my first Lenovo purchase and the experience so far has been disappointing.  I am going to follow up Monday with another call to see what date I am told and understand why my order has been in process for 3 weeks.  Basically, if my notebook isn't shipping the week of 4/14, I'm cancelling my order.

Also, I live in the US so the situation with delayed Canadian orders is not applicable to me.

Re: Thinkpad R series Order / Shipping Thread

Any chance this order might ship sooner than 04/28?

Thanks,

Re: Thinkpad R series Order / Shipping Thread

Ordered an R61 on 3/9. Initial ESD 3/27. Then delayed to 4/14. Called Lenovo after the delay and they promised me it will be shipped on 4/14. Then it got delayed again, to 5/1. I even offered to change my configuration so that it can be shipped eariler. I was under the impression Lenovo's having parts shortages. I was told changing configurations won't help.

I'm about to give up. I really don't feel like waiting until 5/1, and then wait another week for it to get to me. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

GR

P.S. I live in the US.

Re: Thinkpad R series Order / Shipping Thread

Order placed on "04/03/08" and shipped on "4/11/08" even after a small credit card issue, got it today on "4/14/07" Love it! charged the battery for over eight hours, now I'm running it down to see how much I get out of it! Awesome tank of a laptop, already gotten flattering comments from the two people I've shown it to!

Thanks for getting it to me quick! I was quoted delivery on 4/22/08 and it got here early! Awesome stuff! I'm in Northern California by the way, in case anyone was wondering on the shipping times, also, I only chose standard shipping.

Re: Thinkpad R series Order / Shipping Thread

Chartist10,

Nobody would fault you for your decision - I certainly appreciate the opportunities that you gave us, and I'm sorry I didn't respond to you in time. I hope you'll consider us again in the future - hopefully we'll bring our "A" game. :smileyhappy:

Ducats, Ghostrider, if you will PM me your 2Cxxxx sales order numbers, I'll see what can be done.  Please give me 24-48 hours.

TonyZee - I'm seeing the same 4/28 date you have, but will research with supply to see if it can be improved.  I show your order placed 4/9/08, so hopefully it will actually go out in a few more days.   I say this because...

More broadly, I'm seeing US orders receiving overly pessimistic ship estimates.  Most are actually being fulfilled  on or within 10 days from order, despite getting 20 - 30 day lead times reflected on the estimated ship dates.

Thanks.

Re: Thinkpad R series Order / Shipping Thread

Thanks Mark.  I actually called this morning and was given a revised shipping date of 04/19 so you are absolutely correct!  In the meantime the additional 2GB memory I ordered has arrived and I am very much looking forward to playing with my new toy :smileyvery-happy:

Re: Thinkpad R series Order / Shipping Thread

[ Edited ]
My struggle is the communication is minimal related to the fulfillment issues.  I am in the U.S. and I placed my order on 3/21/08.  I contacted customer service immediately to see if any of my configuration components were expected to delay shipping (with the intent of modifying the order).  I was told everything is in stock.  Expected shipping dates have come and gone with no word from Lenovo.  I e-mail customer service and hear back several days later with no real explanation.  This is a system that I need soon, although it was originally intended to be a test of Lenovo's new build quality in preparation for a larger order (company ramp-up).  Are these problems widespread?  I love the Thinkpad line and have used them for years.  My girlfriend is even an IBM employee.  However, I am close to cancelling my order and moving my business to (gasp!) Dell.  How are the situations detailed in this thread being resolved?  When are you finally getting your units?  I feel like a month is a long time to wait for a computer.  Thanks in advance.
