Hi,
I've just purchased some replacement memory for my R60 9461-CTO:
The orignal memory was (2x):
Samsung 512MB 2Rx16 PC2 5300S 555 12 A3
The memory I purchased is (2x):
Samsung 1GB 2Rx8 PC25300S 12 E3
When I turn the system on I get 4 beeps and the system does not start.
I have tried updating the BIOS to the latest (10/2009) but the problem has not been resolved.
Does anyone successfully use memory of this spec or can confirm that it is incompatible with the system?
thanks,
nick

Hi orangenick,
The proceeding link suggests:-
| Four cycles of four short beeps and a blank screen. | System board (Security chip) |

It might also be good idea to return the RAM and get one from other manufacturer.
Hope it helps.

hi, thanks for the reply.
I tried the memory in another laptop and it didn't work, I tried the memory from that laptop (same spec) and it worked fine so I decided that the memory was dead. Went to a shop and bought memory for twice the price but worked fine.
Lesson: tried to save money on ebay, ended up spending more in the end...
