GPUpdate, ThinkPad L Series

Hello!

We have 32 Lenovo ThinkPad L512 laptops, using Intel GMA graphics and a Realtek 1GB network interface card. Are network is thus:

> Windows Serveer 2003 R2 domain, 1 DHCP server, 2 DNS servers

The following conditions are true:

> We can connect the computers to the domain
> We can log into the computers using a domain account
> We can ping are servers
> We cannot ping the laptops (tested on 5 laptops only)

We use Group Policy Objects (GPO) to push down requried software, such as Microsoft Office, using GPUpdate /force (logged in as local admin). The following occurs when we do this:

1 Gpupdate does not find any policies. If this is the case, repeat Gpupdate /force until some policies are found
2 Policies are found, and we are offered to restart the computer. No policies are picked up
3 We are offered to restart the computer, and upon restart policies are picked up.

In circamstance 2 the following error is recorded in the event log:

Error 5719, more information: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/938449

We have tried the recommendation in the linked page (above) by changing the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\DependOnService

...from LanManWorkstation to TermService...

...with the above circamstances still occuring.

Therefore, we are stuck (the IT team... I guess...) as to how we get the group policies working consistently (as in, always GPUpdate bring down the relevent policies or does not bring anything down)..

Any suggestions...
