Ibm lenovo R60e maximu ram speed and CPU

Hello!!

I have a Lenovo R60e and I want to updrade it. Can you please tell me what is the maximum Ram speed that can handle(667 or 800) and what is the maximum CPU?

which CPU and Intel chipset does your R60e have?

If you have the 940GL chipset then it is 2 gigs ram max, and ram is 533 mhz (although you can use some brand of 800 mhz ram). It can only handle T1xxx CPU as max.

If you have the 945GM chipset then you can do T7600 CPU, 3 gigs of ram as max, and with the right CPU you can run ram at 667 mhz.

How can find the chipset model? At this time it has a 512MB @667

check using HWinfo32 or similar software. (You can download HWInfo32 from the net)

Thank you all!! I have the 945GM. Can I go to so-dimm 800Mhz or only 667Mhz?

While you can install 800Mhz DIMMs, the machine will still run at 667Mhz.

I've got one of these machines (my twin boys use it) that I modded pretty heavily and it's quite lovable.
