Is there a solution yet? I've got an X200 Tablet and the whine is driving me mad. It's impossible to work with the laptop in the power saving mode ("Energy Star"). Only when I switch to maximum performance, the whine is gone. Then the laptop is as quiet as you'd expect, but of course, the battery's gone faster.

 

Please resolve this issue, it's just ridiculous, the processor is louder than the fan!

I am afraid we are left out to dry so to speak, as I noted updates are far fewer than before.  So looks like we are the proud owners of a nice, rugged, whiney notebook.
