I have a brand new L420 laptop that to fit in with the rest of the company I've had to downgrade to Windows XP (a lot of our legacy software wont work with Windows 7).
Everything seems to be working OK apart from the Audio/Sound - when playing any sound it's all garbled and warbly.
I'm using the Windows XP Drivers from the Lenovo website.
Any ideas what might be causing this problem?

Usualy the drivers from the manufacturer are a little out-dated, try the website of the soundcard manufacturer.
Or use the lenovo System update tool to see if lenovo has provided a newer version

Hello,
I have been having the same issue as you described. I ordered the Windows XP downgrade cds from Lenovo, same issue. I was wondering if you had found a fix for this? It seems like the computer is running slow which in turn causes the sound issues.
Thanks.

Hi,
I have the same issue.
AUDIO is distorted and not working correctly when windows loads, but once loaded audio is ok.
Notebook runs very slow, takes awhile to boot up and once booted running any programs or just browsing around through files the Notebook seems to struggle. I don’t think it's just a sound card driver issue being the only problem.
I have installed a fresh copy of windows xp sp3 and even on the fresh image same issue.
ANY HELP OR IDEA's would be very much appreciated. I need to get this fixed ASAP as I have 30 notebooks to image.
Cheers
