I've recently reinstalled my L420 using my own disk (recovery partition got wiped) and since then I'm having trouble with the volume meter.
Almost every time that a sound is played by the computer it pops up. Even when the sound is muted.
Screenshot is below:
It's almost identical to the problem described here but I don't have an external monitor attached.
I've tried using the update from that page, but it's still happening.
Please help!

Hello WildBlueRhino,
If you do not need the Volume indicator then you just need to unsinstall the Lenovo Power Management and Power Manager from the Programs and Features under control Panel. You may download the driver from the below mentioned web link as per your Operating System.

Hi Harish, thanks for the reply.
I do use the volume meter and on screen display all the time and find it very useful. It's just it's pretty annoying that it appears most times a sound is played.
I've tried the driver from the you provided below, but it hasn't fixed the issue. Is there anything else you might be able to suggest?
Thanks,
WBR

hi WildBlueRhino,
Thank you for your post. I understand that you have updated the drivers and all, but one thing i was wondering if you have updated your the hot key features of your device. I oould suggest you to update the hot key features first as currently there is a new Version: 3.70.0003 which canbe downloaded from the link below.

Hi NINE,
Thanks for all the suggestions, but unfortunatelty nothing has made a difference.
I have recently (2 months ish) reformatted the laptop and it's only after this that I've started having these problems.
Is it possible that it could it be something from a service pack which is causing the trouble?

Hi all,
Turns out that the audio drivers hadn't been properly accepted by Windows.
I've reinstalled them and it appears that it's fixed the problem. I would never have thought to look at that if it weren't for the fact that my headphones were behaving stangely at the same time as it was popping up.
Thanks everyone for your advice,
WildBlueRhino
