Lenovo L420 DVD & mouse problems

Hi!

 

I tried watching DVDs on my L420 laptop last week for the first time (have had the laptop for a few months now), but the films keep stopping and restarting every few seconds. Would that be a driver or a hardware problem? I used shop-bought DVDs and no rips.

Also, the pointer (operated via touchpad) frequently seems to freeze when encountering flash-sites or when I watch youtube videos (they are flash, too, right?). Is there any way I can fix this?

Btw am using Windows 7.
