I have a similar problem on a A20m. I have been using this machine for the past 2 years with no problems. Today it just decided, apparently, that I needed a power-on password (the little computer monitor and padlock icon). I have tried the procedure for removing the POP but to no avail. I have not updated the BIOS as was described in this thread nor made any other BIOS changes - or anything else for that matter. Have you ever heard of this? In the password removal procedure do I need to leave the batteries disconnected for some time? The phrase "drain the BIOS memory" made me wonder.
