R40 Docking Station and DVI connection

I am using a R40 (Type: 2681Model: HTG) and a docking station (Type 74P6733) with a DVI connector. Now I want to connect my new Samsung 2243BW using the DVI connection. But it doesn't work. Only the connection using the analog VGA signal is possible, but not ideal.

Has anyone some experiences in this?
