R400 No Sound after installing Windows 7

Hello All,

I have recently installed Windows 7 on a Lenovo Thankpad R400 which previously had Windows XP on.  Since installing Windows 7 the sound has not been working.  Windows 7 detected the sound chipset (Connextant SmartAudio) and installed it own driver,  I have also tried the Windows 7 driver from the Lenovo web site.  Both drivers seem to install ok but I still dont get any sound.

I have heard that the is a known issue with Windows 7 and the Connextant chip in R400, is this true?

Sound was working fine on Windows XP.

I would be greatful for any help or advice.

Kindly update the BIOS and check if the issue resolves.

go into your sound property, is the speaker selected as the main playback device?
