Every time i start my thinkpad R50e, it gives me 0271 date and time error. I have to reset the date and it is able to boot. It happens every time when i start the laptop. Can somebody help to resolve this issue? Is this error related to hardware or some registry related? The guide available with thinkpad says that for error code 0271 just reset the date and time in BIOS utility and it will be resolved. Every time I reset date and time and save it (F10) but next startup gives same error.

Welcome to the forum!
Your R50e needs a new backup (CMOS) battery. They're about $5 on eBay.
Make sure that you remove all/any hardware passwords before swapping the battery.
Good luck.
