Hello my name is kiba and I recently bought my Thinkpad R51 2888-nu1 at a yard sale with no hard drive.
I took it home thinking it was going to be an easy fix seeing as I have multipule IDE hdds in my closet,I am finding it hard to reinstall ANY driver that came with this.. even to update the bios.. anyone know how I can get an of the drivers to work with XP home SP2?

Hi and welcome to the forum Kiba!
Installing drivers for older lenovo systems can be a little bit tricky, to successfully install them you're required to go to C:\Drivers.... and find the appropriate folder to which each driver has extracted itself during the initial setup, and then need to run .exe setups from there.
Hope this helps.

I have tried that for the display drivers and for the wifi the display keeps telling me I do not meet the minium requirements to use it and the wifi just won't work

So you don't get an error for the wifi and it just doesn't work?
Suggestions:-
1. Press F1 to enter the BIOS when the system boots, then do this: Config -> Network -> Internal Wireless Device -> Enabled, make sure the device is enabled and not grayed out.
2. Install Hotkey features, reinstall the wifi driver, verify which driver you have been installing previously? Following is the one for your R51:- Intel PRO/Wireless 2200bg, 2915abg Mini PCI adapter
Once installed, restart your ThinkPad, press Fn-F5 on the keyboard in Windows to enable wifi's radio.
For display driver, following is the driver you require:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen
If it doesn't install, then you would need to update your BIOS beforehand as suggested on the above page:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen
Keep us informed.
