Hello
I have an R61 7733-3GG with an 14.1" monitor. About a year ago it started occasionally flickering at the bottom of the screen. It didn't bother me much, but now there's a permanent green/purple line at the bottom and it seems to be spreading around line. Here's how it looks:

So my question is: what is the problem? Which part has to be changed? How hard is it to do?
And which part would fit? Can I get a new screen that supports a higher resolution (currently max is 1280x800) without too much trouble?
Hope you can help :-)

Hi, thank you.
No the problem doesn't occur on an external LCD. So I figure something must be wrong with the actual LCD display or maybe the backlight?
I don't know exactly what GPU it has, in Windows Device Manager, under Display Adapters it says "Mobil Intel 965 Express Chipset family".
I'm thinking I will need a new LCD - it seems like a hardware error. But I'm having a hard time finding out what part(s) to get and where to get it.

Ok, so I found the HW manual - thank you :-)
I looked in the "Parts list" section and found there are two kinds of LCDs. One is WXGA and one is WXGA+ with a higher resolution. I figure it would be really nice if I could get a WXGA+ instead of my old one. But I'm not sure if it will fit. There's a bunch of models listed. On the first type, the WXGA, I think I found my model nr.:
It says 7733-CTO, *a lot of xxx*, 3Gx
And I figure 3Gx means its good for me :-)
But on the second type, WXGA+, I can only find:
7733-CTO, and then not the 3Gx, but there are others listed. So I guess it means it wont fit for my model. But I'm not sure and it would be sad to miss the opportunity for a better resolution. So could you answer this for me?
And what does CTO stand for?

Hi toblund,
CTO stands for Customized-to-Order system. Through parts lookup site you can find out the FRU number of LCD which came with your unit:- http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/
Hope this helps.
