I've got the same problem, my R61 came with XP&160GB HDD, now I've bought new 500GB HDD and Windows7. Everything is good, but I don't know how to get all functions of "Restore and Recovery" especially Custom Factory Recovery as it was in the past 
Now the only way of using Restore and Recovery is to make clear installation + drivers and software from lenovo, then making backup to be secure for future but it's not the same like it was.
Anybody knows how to prepare?
Ps. Sorry for my bad english.
Hi and welcome to the forum!
You can only use Win 7's custom factory recovery through RnR's hidden partition if have lenovo's factory load, nonetheless you can still install RnR in Windows and make a backup on DVDs, USB drive etc.
