I have bought R52 (1846) that I intend to give to my brother to replace his worse than awful machine.
The previous owner used a 'universal' laptop power supply (19.5 V) to replace his 'failed' OEM (16 V) after the (barrel) 'AC power' connector contact came loose and started working intermittently.
I have tightened the barrel contact (by piercing the side and poking it with a stick) but found that the laptop will draw no power from the AC power adaptor, but will run reliably off of a battery charged in another laptop. Useful but impractical as I do not intend to keep juggling batteries.
Tracing the power circuit I find that fuse F2 located next to the AC power connector is blown.
The only 'new' fuse in the same footprint I can find is 5A/125VAC,DC, is this an appropriate replacement for F2?
