Re: ThinkPad R61i screem problem

Same problem exactly? Looks different.

If it changes when you move the screen, have the cable checked.

Be sure to attach a external monitor also, see if problem
shows on that.

Is the laptop very hot on the bottom when problem occurs?

Re: ThinkPad R61i screem problem

Thanks for your reply,

If I connect an external monitor the problem disappears

I just checked that if I press a finger at the top of the laptop, the problem appears (to the right of the blue ThinkVantage button)

I think it's the same problem for the photo you attached the other forum user

thanks in advance

[ Edited ]

That would lead me to suspect the cable where
it connects to the motherboard.

Look for FRU Removal, LCD in these videos if you
are a "do it yourself" type of person.

http://lenovo.f.relayware.com/content/CourseWarePublic/6618/course%20files/index.html

There is a flat ribbon cable and retention bracket, either may be loose.

Also see LCD Dis-assembly if cable needs to be replaced.

Follow standard safe practices for working inside laptops,
or any computer. Remember to unplug, remove battery,
and hold down power button for 30 seconds before dis-assembly.

Also be sure to eliminate static electricity buildup in you,

have the proper tools, keep track of screws, etc.
