Upgrade Processor on R60 9461-DXG

Is it possible to upgrade the processor on a Lenovo R60 (model 9461-DXG) from a T5600, 1.83Ghz to, say, T7600 (2.33Ghz) which is the highest 667Mhz FSB, Socket M processor in the 65nm range.  Or is it hard-soldered?

Re: Upgrade Processor on R60 9461-DXG

Welcome to the forum!

The CPU is not soldered on the board, so the upgrade is possible, just make sure that pins are matching and everything that foes with it...

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

George

Re: Upgrade Processor on R60 9461-DXG

Many thanks.  Am I correct in thinking that when selecting a faster processor that I need to match the FSB (667Mhz), socket (M) and voltage (1.0375 - 1.3 V) and can increase the clock speed and L2 cache, or can I move up to a 800Mhz, Socket P chip as well?

Re: Upgrade Processor on R60 9461-DXG

The Socket M can only support:

Intel Core Solo
Intel Core Duo
Intel Core 2 Duo (T5x00, T7x00)
Intel Celeron M

Socket P:

Intel Core 2 Duo (T5xx0, T7xx0, T8x00, T9x00)
Intel Celeron M
Intel Pentium Dual-Core (T23x0)

Many thanks .

Can someone confirm or refute compatability between SocketP and my specific laptop?

[ Edited ]

R60 motherboard can support Core Duo processor, so it is socket M, and socket M can't support all the processors listed on the Socket P list i.e. T8xxx, T9xxx and also the Pentium Dual 2xxx. Some one else can confirm this for you.
