Welcome to the forum!
The CPU is not soldered on the board, so the upgrade is possible, just make sure that pins are matching and everything that foes with it...
Hope this helps.

Many thanks wjli2.
Can someone confirm or refute compatability between SocketP and my specific laptop?

R60 motherboard can support Core Duo processor, so it is socket M, and socket M can't support all the processors listed on the Socket P list i.e. T8xxx, T9xxx and also the Pentium Dual 2xxx. Some one else can confirm this for you.
