need urgent help updating R40e bios

Hi all!

 

I need to update the bios of my laptop, but i am unable to do so using both the files that are provided on the thinkpad support website.

 

i dont have XP installed at the moment(neither can i without updating), and i dont  have a FDD in my laptop to do the diskette version. has anyone got the extracted version of the bios that i can update directly by CD?

 

any other solutions?

i also ran the IBM PC Doctor 'Fixed Disk Diagnostic' and got the 'Controller' test as FAILED

nobody has a solution??????

 

anyways, i was able to make a bootable after extracting the files.. but when i try to run phlash16.exe it says BIOS.WPH missing.. now where do i find that file?
