new drivers increasing performance?

I'm running some fairly processor intensive audio/video apps and haven't upgraded drivers in about 6months on a Win 7 Machine.

Has anyone noticed a signifigant performance boost from the bios driver update or video card driver updates, or other updates?

which laptop model are we talking about here? R500, R400, R61? also what is the full model/type number?
