I had my PC audio working well for quiet some time, then i used an HDMI cable to display (clone mode) my desktop to a bigscreen TV, and that worked fine, audio came out from the TV while i worked; but then, when i unplugged the HDMI cable i could no longer get audio to work on my PC alone, tried reboot etc., can anybody help? Tia!
ThinkPad SL500 series. Latest drivers etc. i think, Intel GPU driver 6.14.10.4980, Intel HDMI driver 5.10.0.1046, Conexant HD SmartAudio 221 3.54.0.0.

go into your sound property under control panel for your main audio playback make sure you select the standard speakers and not the digital audio out through the HDMI.

Thanks for the reply!
I'll guess you meant "Start>Control Panel>Sounds and AudioDevices" and not "Start>Control Panel>Smart Audio". Then the Tabs are: Volume, Sounds, Audio, Voice, Hardware; in any of these tabs there is no mention of HDMI, just Conexant HD Audio Input/Output. The speakers are setup as Laptop Stereo.
In the Device Manager i can get to the HDMI devices, and they are enabled, i tried disabling them, but on reboot they are back on.
I've loaded and unloaded, installed and uninstalled drivers all day, there must be a trick to this, my laptop has been silent ever since disconnecting from TV. =(

so your speakers are enabled like this?
does your speakers icon have a green tick next to it?

Oh, i'm on WinXP, you're on a newer OS (& drivers...?)
(if i can get images uploaded i will, what's with this forum not letting us upload images directly??)
Somehow, the Intel HDMI drivers are crossed with the Conexant HD drivers, if i disable the HDMI mixer, it disables the HD mixer; if i enable the HD mixer it enables the HDMI mixer, they're crossed ever since i disconnected the HDMI cable from TV.
So it seems i cannot get out of this issue, i'm going to try uninstalling HDMI drivers or something...
Update: 3 days of messing about with drivers and i find my headphones are working fine..., so is there a driver just for the laptop speakers to work? Seems like i may have a fuse issue or connection problem.
