BIOS upgrade - computer stayed at "Windows is shutting down" for many hours

Hi

I have a ThinkPad SL500 for about  1 and a half year now.

Last night I pressed the Lenovo Care button and found out there were some updates for it.

I run a few of them and then there was the BIOS upgrade.

I thought why not. I have it plugged in and a charged battery too.

It started with a flash program, called BIOS upgrade flash or something.

It seemed to do some stuff, then it went on to turn off the computer (maybe to restart it).

But it stayed to Windows' screen saying "Windows is shutting down".

It's there for about 8 hours now and I am afraid to turn it off.

What should I do?

I must go to work now but I'll return later.

thanks

thanx i  was afraid to do that without a second opinion. but now i did it and it's fine.

how would i know if the BIOS is OK now?

does the fact that my computer and  the Windows can turn on mean that everything is OK?

Yep.

You can run complete system test via ThinVantage Toolbox to be certain.

Hope this helps.

The BIOS is ok otherwise the computer wouldn't start.
