The most direct way of getting digital audio connection from your SL series (i.e. spdif, optical audio out), is to get a external soundcard that supports digital audio. Many manufacturers (i.e. Soundblaster, ASUS, etc) produce and market these usb sound cards with digital audio support. Here is an example of such external usb soundcards.
