I am trying to install Windows 7 home premium on my SL300 thinkpad. During the installation I accidently formatted the S drive partition(service partition) which comes with the SL300. Will this create a problem during my installation and also Is it ok to completely re-partition my hard drive using fdisk.
Also id it possible to restore the service parition using the rescue and recovery disc without the factory reload option.

Hi Zanoop,
Welcome to the forum!
No it won't be a snag, an yes it's fine to re-partition your drive using fdisk.
Yes, it's workable but the discs will have to put back your system to factory state in order to create the partition and while doing so it will delete all other partitions and previously installed OS such as your newly installed Win 7.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for the repsonse.
I successfully installed Win7 on my SL300 yesterday. The issue was that my C:\ was showing as Active partition and not the Service one. I changed the Service parition to Active using diskpart and the installatin went smoothly. I need to install some of the drivers mnanually which as expected...
Have a good weekend.
