Hi,
I've been using my brother's laptop while he's been in Europe. It suddenly turned off without warning. I tried a spare battery he had and it worked fine. Then I went back to it having not turned it off and it happened again. It recognised the power was plugged in, as far as I can remember, but now there are no lights when plugged in anywhere.
The jack is a little looser than I think it probably ought to be so I'm hoping it's that and not the motherboard as I really don't fancy paying hundreds of dollars.
Thank in advance for your help,
Patrick

Iäve had this before...twice. The power jacks wires are really weakly attached and come loose if you shake the plug a lot. The wire needs to be soldered back or you could buy a new DC input jack (expensive.) Opening up the laptop to get to them is quite a pain in the ass though, better have a pro do it.
Try this: plug the cable in and move it around while trying to power up the comp. If at some angle the wires touch, it should power up and you'll know a loose wire is causing it.
then again if a loose wire isnt causing it, you might just loosen it if u jiggle the plug around. so you know.. do it at ur own risk ![]()
