Re: How to check order status?

Update:

I've got my laptop(SL400) yesterday.

Ordered on :  August 2nd.(I ordered it in the evening though,so count it as 3rd)

 Recieved on :28th August.

Recieved email on tracking info and shipment notification: August 23,however they have sent an email about the whole shipment rather than just my single order.Anyways, atleast I came to  know that my laptop is somewhere lurking in that bulk shipment.I had to later call the customer care to get the local tracking number and I've recieved my shipment on 28th.

Total Time taken:25 days.

Maliha recievd it way lesser time than me,and the reason I suspect is that I've ordered a 4 cell  battery instead of a 6 cell or 9 cell.It was already mentioned on the site that it would take approximately 6-7 weeks for that.So perfectly fine with me.

This is my first thinkpad so I cannot  comment on the whole functionality thing and the differences between the original thinkpad series and this one. So far, it sems like a perfectly nice laptop.

Thanks,

Ray

sl500 slow delivery

Why does Lenovo make a notebook that they cannot deliver?

My order has been placed 41 days ago I'm wondering if I should cancel this ordered get a Dell or HP.

It simply not the way to instill confidence  in a company and the product.

I have been a user of thinkpads for almost 15 years now, I'll give 1 or  2 more days,

has anyone else have a similar delivery problem?

I'm also happy with my first thinkpad but not so with the software that is preloaded with Windows.

Re: SLx series shipping messages

[ Edited ]

Yay, started the shipping nightmare!  I'm a brand new customer to Lenovo trying really hard to not regret/cancel this order.  I had no idea lenovo's shipping was in such a state of disarray until I ordered my 2 SL300's on 8/27, waited two weeks, and researched lenovo's shipping history on the 'net.  I have already waited the intially estimated 2 weeks to be rewarded by 2 more weeks, and no one at customer service will tell me why.   I, in fact get various levels of people not telling me things, but I found out today that all the customer service has access to is a screen that tells them whatever the warehouse wants them to say.  So there is some sort of delay having to do with it being a new system, but that seems silly.

I'm no industrial engineer, but... if they have these problems every time a product is released, they should make 2x next time or make more storage space for the new parts, right?

If anyone can help, i'd appreciate it.  I already have my name on the "critical" list, but that sounds like just something they can say to make us feel better.

Otherwise, i'll probably just cancel it as I've never been made to feel so helpless by buying something, and I expect any sort of maintenance will be just as difficult.

Please?

Re: SLx series shipping messages

[ Edited ]

I ordered an SL500 on the 9th of September and the order status gave me an estimated ship date of 21st Oct '08. I got ticked off and picked it up with customer care but they weren't helpful. So, I settled down for a long wait and out of the blue, I get a mail from Lenovo on 12th of September '08 saying that my PC has been shipped!! It took them 3 days to build the computer and another 5 days to deliver it! That was fast....

I should be getting the PC on the 18th of september. But, I'm trading the SL500 for a T400.... Got a better deal there...

Re: SLx series shipping messages

This time, when I called they notified me of a constraint on the 4-cell battery.  Last time I called, there was no such constraint except on the laptop system itself.  The customer service representative stated the shipment of batteries would arrive on the 20th.

Called again.  October 5th!

Has anyone had success negotiating a discount for waiting so long?   These dates are meaningless and it angers me more every day.  I can understand a supply shortage, but I cannot understand such an inaccurate estimate.  Lenovo is either deliberately clouding the truth or terrible at math.

does anyone know the true state of the battery shortage, when it will be resolved, and what can be done about it?

Btw... today is the 23rd, i ordered last month on the 27th.  Estimated date is now October 5th.  That's 40 days.

Unfortunately, I don't have much time to mess with this.  Any reason I should not cancel my order and file a complaint with the BBB?

My order number is:
