Question regarding Guide or video guide

Hy I am new to the forums, but not new to searching here, I had a T60 and now own an SL510... As my Sl510 did not come with bluetooth I took the one off my T60 and installed it on the SL510.

Now I got a couple of questions, I am running Win 7 Pro, at the beginning the bluetooth was perfectly isntalled and worked, now after a couple of weeks, it wont work anymore and when I go to device manager I see that it is unistalled eventhough I installed it.

2nd, I noticed that the SL510 do have a 2nd PCI express port at the bottom, the wireless is below the keyboard, so I was wondering what is the usage for that 2nd port?

And 3rd, I remember when I did move the bluetooth card from one PC to the other, that I had to research and found somewhere in this forums a link to a Guide with Videos and stuff, where I could search for any Lenovo branded Laptop and could get the dissambly and reassemply ob parts, can someone point me to that site please? I need to check on something regarding my SL510, thank you very much for your kind help.

Re: Question regarding Guide or video guide

Hello mate,

Check if your daughter card is connected properly for your bluetooth problem. Reseat it maybe.

The second pci express is normally to connect a WWAN modem.

The website you are looking for is there : http://www.lenovoservicetraining.com/ion/

Re: Question regarding Guide or video guide

Appreciated a lot, the website was that I used that to remove the Bluetooth from my T60 and install it to the SL510.

I have already done that like 5 or 6 timnes and still the same result, is there a chance that the bluetooth card went bad?

WWAN Modem... -.- then why is it that the SL510s have slots to install SIM Cards, I guess I iwll use that slot to add a pci e bluetooth card if I cant find nothing good.

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum jrdehals!

Yes, it's possible that the card went bad, did you consult the manuals of T60 and SL510 to verify that the card you were installing in SL510 is compatible with it? There are many revisions of these cards with new or old firmware, although the card worked but it might not have been completely compatible. I suggest using the HMM to find the correct Bluetooth part for your SL510.

Put the Bluetooth card back in the T60, if it doesn't work then the card is fried.

As for WWAN, to use WWAN you require the SIM from your carrier (with active data plan) in the SIM card slot and WWAN card in the WWAN slot, this is the reason you have SIM card slots.

Hope this helps.

Re: Question regarding Guide or video guide

I dont know which type of the SL510 you have, but some dont have WWAN-antennas!

So before you go and buy a WWAN-card you should check whether there are the antenna jacks around the PCI-slot!

You can buy them too and put them in but you may lose your warranty :smileywink:
