Hello,
I Just recently reformatted my thinkpad sl500 to windows xp pro, everything has gone smoothly, but unable to get the audio to work.
I've downloaded the latest conextant audio drivers(3.54.0.0) from the support page, but when installing the actual drivers, I get the error message "Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver."
When I check audio devices under device manager, there are no yellow exclamation points. However, I do not see anything resembling the conextant device. Is the laptop not recognizing the actual sound card?
Suggestions? Anyone?
My product id is 2746CTO.

Thank you for the reply! I'm currently using Service Pack 2. I did a search for the windows hotfix; but not sure which to install.

*FIXED*
Thank you ColonelOneil for the suggestion. I googled "Windows XP Service Pack 2 hotfix", Here is the Link. After installing that, Windows should recognize new devices, which is when I installed the conextant audio driver from support page, and the no media device error message was no more!
