my computer has been on for 5 hours and for 4 of those hours it was idle. my fan has been roaring as if i am running too many programs. it does a lot even if i don't touch it for awhile.
is there a way to make my fan not constantly sound like this? i have a BIG fear of my fan breaking because that happened with my x30 in december. i turn it off everynight. please help

It could be that your fear has come true.
Has your SL500's fan always been that noisy?
I bought SL500, because reviews said that's it's really silent one. I've been using mine for a month now and I can tell that the fan is near silent even when the processor is being run at 100% load -- I cannot hear it if there's any background noise present. To me it sadly sounds that your SL500's fan could be failing.

going to UPS today to drop off my computer. I just recorded the fan, what it sounds like when it's happening. I knew it was about to start so I got my camera ready.

I'm confused. I have the program, and it says 11 pwr 10C as the temps
switch is 10C
states Fan 0
speed 0 RPM
20 minutes later it's the same except state says fan 128. i put it to BIOS mode.
