I have same situation on my SL500. Numbers with new driver are lower.
On the other hand, my Disk Data Transfer Rate (on Windows 7) is stuck to 3.0, with both the old and the new driver

Hello Mike,
yeah, i'm still monitoring this thread. well, i'm back at using the old 1527 driver which pulls my WEI back to 3.4 in 2d graphics and 3.6 in 3d graphics. till now i don't feel any difference in gaming performances between this driver and the newer 1608 driver.
something weird as well is that GPU-Z says that the 4500mhd core is clocked at 475 MHz, while the lenovo support clearly says it should be clocked at 533 MHz. (http://www.lenovoservicetraining.com/ion/SL400_500
And i'm pretty sure, that my sl500 has the GM45 chipset not the weaker one, the GL40 which has a clock speed of 380 MHz.
maybe i should try the 1508 driver .... and do some benchmarks.
Plus, i don't understand why lenovo doesn't update the Intel Display driver ... the version that can be downloaded at the support page is dated with October 2008.
Anybody who has the same problem, please post your experiences here!
Thanks in advance
