Hello,
I just bought a SL510 Thinkpad with an integrated camera. However, I can't seem to activate it. I looked in Device Manager to try and update the driver, but its not even in Device Manager. The "Imaging Devices" where the camera would normally be is not there in Device Manager. I"ve tried installing the SL510 Integrated Camera Drivers for Win 7 64-bit and it still does not work. Hitting the Fn-F6 button brings up the audio settings, however, the camera icon is red, and is inactive.
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Same problem here:
Both the integrated microphone and the webcam were not detected in Windows XP SP3 from one day to another...
no changes were made, no updates, nothing.... It just disappeared.
The webcam does not even show up in the BIOS which means the electrical connection is most possibly flawed.
I guess the cable inside the hinge or something like that broke... Well I will send it in...
Updating BIOS and reinstalling drivers did not work.

already tried... i installed it and after installation nothing happens.
as i mentioned the webcam also disappeared from the BIOS, which runs before even windows or any other OS starts.

yes , but it didnt help directly.
i solved my problems: run Chkdisk c: /f
Many times!
First time was two week ago, and it did not find anything.
second time today... suddently the hard drive had lots of strange indexes to fix.... then the webcam was detected in windows and started working as if nothing happened.
This weekend i tried a LOT of things so i dont know whick one was the key event but
what helped after all:
webcam was not detected in BIOS:
1. reset all bios data in BIOS menu, reboot
2. shut the notebook down and take off battery for one minute.boot up
3."integrated camera" & microphone should be visible in BIOS, yet still not in windows
webcam not in detected in windows XP:
1.run chkdisk /f on bootup.
2.kill all "unknown USB device" "USB-video device" entries in the divice manager, and all lenovo software:
use this trick to show old drivers, delete them: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/remov
3.install lenovo system update and install everything you want/need. get the integrated camera driver from lenovo, install, dont worry if installer suddently closes... its ok.
4. run chkdisk /f again...
5. camera should be detected now and work
as i mentioned, there is no logic behind it but it worked... and on a notebook you cant change hard drives (gives bluescreens) or single components for diagnosis...

connecting another notebook's hard drivefor testing gave only bluescreens when windows started even in safe mode...

this sl510 had deactivated AHCI the other one had it activated thats why i got the bluescreens... didnt know that... but thats offt-thread
