SL510 black screen on internal display with driver

[ Edited ]

Hello,

my SL510 has a problem with its graphics.

With the graphics driver Intel 4 series express chipset enabled, the internal display is black and seemingly completely switched off , yet any external monitor works. When booting, the internal display works until the login-screen should appear (which activates the real driver with full resolution I guess). Without this driver, so with the standard driver up to 1024 px, the internal display works perfectly.

This happend suddenly when switching on this morning. Everything was fine until then, and I had not changed anything. I uninstalled and re-installed the driver and the Monitor Info a few times, with the ever same result.

Has anyone an idea for this problem? Might it be hardware or software?

Thank you very much, best regards

Michael

Re: SL510 black screen on internal display with driver

Hello Tanuj,

thank you. The days after my posting, the display suddenly worked sometimes, yet sometimes the problem happened again. And it seems your recommendation helped; the display problem did not occur since.

I have already had the current VGA driver. But the new BIOS seemingly has helped.

Best regards, thanky you,
Michael

Re: SL510 black screen on internal display with driver

I have two Lenovo SL510 with this issue.  I tried using the Bios flash utility, it worked, I then tried to rerun it to make sure it was installed, and it says the update has already been applied.  I then used the 64-bit driver and the display started working again.  However, as soon as the laptop went into sleep mode, the display would not come back on.  Attaching an external monitor works fine, but no display on the built-in panel.  I tried making sure the laptop was not online, as I thought Windows Update was overwriting the driver, but even disconnected, once the laptop goes to sleep the built-in display panel will not work once you resume.  Is there some additional step that I am missing?  LIke I said, I have 2 laptops doing this now.  I would like to fix them and get them back into use.  Please advise.
