Surround Sound for SL410

I have an SL410.  I plugged an HDMI cable in between my laptop and my Vizio E321VL TV.  However, when I go to Control Panel -> Sound -> HDMI Device -> Properties it says that it only supports 2 channels.  Is there anyway that I can get my laptop to output 5.1 sound?

Thank you.

Re: Surround Sound for SL410

Does your TV support 5.1?

Try selecting the HDMI device, and hitting Configure. Does it allow you to choose 5.1?

Also try updating your graphics drivers.

Re: Surround Sound for SL410

Thanks for the ideas.  My TV supports SRS TruSurround HD and also Dolby Digitial.  On my TV, when I go into the audio settings, I set the audio format to Dolby Digital.  I can also do PCM, but it is currently on Dolby Digital.  On my laptop, with Windows 7 OS, I can go into Control Panel -> Sounds -> HDMI Device -> Properties.  From there, it says that it supports Dobly Digital Format, but the max channels it supports is 2 channels.  The graphics drivers are all updated.  Can you give me any other ideas?  Thank you!

Re: Surround Sound for SL410

I'm not sure if SRS TruSurround HD necessarily implies 5.1 speakers or virtualized surround out of two speakers. You may just have two speakers on your TV, unless you're running a set of 5.1 speakers out of the TV.
