What is the most efficient way to replace the standard 160GB mechanical HD with a 120GB SSD without losing any of the features inherent in the stock version of the notebook?

when you say features, do you mean the recovery partition and the Lenovo specific softwares?

If that is the case, you are probably better off with a clean install (since you are moving from platter to ssd) using a set of Lenovo recovery media.
