sl500 is running way too hot and the fan is not responding

i have a sl500 in a good shape, after a few mints of using its gets to 70, 80c through core temp and speed fan, and the laptops fan is not doing anything about it!

i'm pretty concerned, is there a way to speed it up?

You can try using TPFanControl to increase the fan speed:

You can also use RMClock to undervolt your CPU to improve battery life and reduce thermal temperatures.

I'd consider checking if your heatsink is loose. Probably also reapplying th thermal paste.

Same problem, fan is unreactive after installing windows 7 and latest BIOS. HELP please!

This heat problem seems to be causing hard drive faults too.

I just installed Windows and all drivers, set it to the lowest and most battery saving power plan and told it to use active cooling whenever possible.

The fan runs now and then, but the machine is still deadly hot on the left side.

I measured over 65 degrees celsius on the HDD sensor after 20 minutes of idle on the desktop with the classic look in Windows 7
