Hi
i just got a second hand SL510
the model is 2875RG with T4400 and 2gb ram DDR3
i upgrade successfully the ram to 8GB (2x4) and also the DVDRW with a Blue Ray combo drive
BUT when i tried to upgrade the cpu to P8700 the laptop when i press the power button after a 3-4 sec power off
I also tried with another cpu P7450 but i got the same resolt
I install back the T4400
i have the latst firmware install
Finaly this laptop does not support 1066fsb cpu's?
Is anyone who have successfully upgrde the cpu on his SL510?

after some research i find out that
the lenovo sl510 (2847) that have the P8700 cpu use the GM45 chipset that support 1066fsb and it have the 4500MHD gpu
my sl510 (2875) use the older GL40 chipset that support 800fsb and have the 4500M gpu
so i gess the fastes cpu that i can upgrade my lenovo is the T9500 (2.6/6M/800)
(But both model have tha same bios firmware)

I have an sl510 and its the 2847 version.
I've made the following upgrades:
p9600 cpu
128gb ssd
250gb hdd installed in the dvd drive bay
8gb ram
Everything runs great. Hope this helps with your question or anyone else who might be wondering what upgrades they can do.

Thank you for the reply
as i wrote the 2847 model have a diferent chipset.is is GM45 that support 1066fsb cpu's like p9600.
the 2875 model use the older chipset GL40 that support ony up to 800fsb cpu's
I tried the t8100 from a friend of mine and worked great so now i am looking for a T8300 or T9300 or T9500 to buy and upgade my SL510
