It was reported that tablet shipments were estimated to be nearly 73 million units in 2011. If you have one of those 73 million tablets or are preparing to purchase a tablet, remember, security starts at "home" with you, the tablet owner.

@Corrine,
Any good software to recommend for tablets which enables GPS tracking if the device is stolen? Would prefer freeware without subscribing to any services but if need to pay for it then I don't mind too.
Thanks =D
Good question. I've come to find "Where's my Droid" to work pretty good. You setup safe numbers, (friend or family cell number) text the secret command and it will turn on GPS if off and send back a text with a location. And if received on another droid, you can pull up a GPS for directions to its location. Or if you've just simply lost the device it can turn on sound and beep for you, and even flash the screen. Oh did I mention it's FREE. ![]()
Edit: I forgot about remote lock or wipe, It can do those too. And even tell you if the number or SIM of the phone has been changed. Nice little app.

Attempting to get more information "Where's my Droid", WheresMyDroid.com was blocked by ESET Smart Security:
Access to the web page was blocked by ESET Smart Security. The web page is on the list of websites with potentially dangerous content.
Aryeh Goretsky is traveling so I cannot ask him for any additional information about the ESET warning.
I suggest looking at Prey Anti-Theft, which I understand is free and also has Pro plans. (FAQ's)

You're welcome. It would be helpful to others if you'd report back on the usability of Prey.
I found the Prey Recovery stories archive interesting. They do not appear to be fake or "plants".
