I want to add a 128-180 GB SSD to my T420s ultrabay, but I'm having trouble confirming compatibility of the various options. Is 43N3412 the right SATA adapter? I'm planning on using it with 0A65630 "ThinkPad 180GB SATA 6.0Gb/s 7mm Solid State Drive" (unless someone has a suggestion for a better price/value option).

There are two versions of the Ultrabay adapter, one 9.5mm thick (43N3412) and the other 12.7mm thick (0A65623.)
I don't know for sure about the T420s but I suspect it has a 9.5mm opening like my T430s. I bought this clone adapter on eBay for about $10, shipping included. It fits perfectly and works just fine.
In my case I put the SSD into the standard HDD bay and put the HDD that originally came with the T430s into the adapter. That way when I'm travelling I can easily pull out the HDD in the adapter so that it's not vulnerable to physical shocks, etc.

Hey Asu,
You are correct you can use both 43N3412 and 0A65630 in your T420s both are listed as compatible.
Best Regards,
Hiro

Great, thank you both. Hiro, if "Support Specialist" implies that you are a Lenovo employee, I'd suggest that the product page for 43N3412 either be amended to explicitly say it is 9.5mm or that it is compatible with T420(s). Right now, it says neither, which I found confusing.
Thanks again!

asu,
Support Specialists aren't Lenovo staff but I have alerted Lenovo to update that page and I'll let Hiro know.

The 43N3412 has been discontinued. What is the new replacement?
