After installation of Windows 7 Service Pack 1 it is not possible to switch graphics anymore

Hi,

I am running Windows 7 SP1, 64-Bit on a Lenovo T500 with switchable graphics.

I downloaded and installed Service Pack 1 manually (working on the Intel-card) since it did not show up on Windows Update (now I now that this was because of outdated Intel-drivers) - the installation went fine. Afterwards I tried to switch to my Ati-card but nothing happened and I realized that the Intel-driver has apparently been updatesd by SP1 (had a new design of the Intel-tool). After playing around I now got my Ati-card active but I can't switch back to the Intel-card.

I uninstalled all graphic drivers and removed all graphic devices from the device manager and then installed the most recent driver from Lenovo and also tried with the most recent driver from Ati/AMD directly (11.2) but nothing solved my problem.

I can  right-click on my PowerManager-battery and select the other card on "Switchable graphics" but nothing happens - no error message but also no change.

Every help is much appreciated.

I have a w500 with switchable graphics, and I'm running windows 7 sp1 32-bit. I can switch back and forth with no problem.

Are you using the latest Lenovo-drivers or the ones from Ati?

Are you switching with the battery-symbol in the taskbar or in another way?

Was your Intel or your Ati-card active when you installed SP1?

The ATI drivers not from Lenovo, do not work for switching. You need to have the Switchable graphic driver from here ---> http://download.lenovo.com/lenovo/content/ddfm/MIGR-70443.html#video

I use the lenovo ones. I think the ones from ati don't work right with lenovo power management.  I switch by right clicking the battery icon.

There are some Ati drivers that also work for switching - in this thread there is a lot of discussion about it: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/R400-T400-T500-W500-Switchable-graphics-NEW...

But it is correct: some mentioned problems with both cards begin active - but I think that was solved as well.

I am using the (pretty old) Lenovo drivers at the moment anyway so it should work.

I don't know how I ran into this problem - but as long as nobody else experiences the problem then maybe it is only in my specific setting.

Did you get the SP1 through Windows Update or did you install it manually as well?
