Audio glitches on Thinkpad running with windows 7

[ Edited ]

I am having huge problems with my Thinkpad listening to audio. I am experiencing regular glitches, pops and crackles during playback. This is a big problem for me as I use the laptop to write music and play it live with DJing. I have tried both my external soundcard and the internal watches online ASIO driver but I still experience it. I have also exported 200 GB of audio off my hard drive onto an external drive and still no improvement. I have defragmented all of the drives and raised the priority of the programs I am using in the power settings. I have read some other forums and read that it can be caused by drivers or power programs running in the background but I'm not sure how I can disable these to find out if it is them or not. Does anyone have much knowledge on this or have any suggestions to help me with my problem?? please?

Re: Audio glitches on Thinkpad running with windows 7

hey sweclothoc,

welcome to the forums,

since some forums mentioned that it could be background programs, what you could do is to set your windows to start in Diagnostic mode.

this can be done via msconfig. Diagnostic mode basically kills all background process except windows process.

another thing you can do is to uninstall the current audio driver that you have, let windows install its own generic driver and try out your music with generic audio drivers.

Check your DPC latencies with LatencyMon. See which driver is causing issues (usually wifi, battery)
