Hi everyone.
I've just received a T500 to replace my trusty T61. One thing I noticed is that the bottom of the laptop and the palm rest gets much hotter than my T61. Core Temp shows the T500 CPU at around 42º Celsius / 107 F. The laptop also seems to expel much hotter air than my T61.
T500
Integrated GPU, Corsair P64 SSD
Windows 7 64-bit (no lenovo drivers yet installed)
Balanced Profile
T61
Discrete GPU, WD 320GB 7200RPM HD
Windows Vista 32-bit
Balanced Profile
What is the average CPU temperature on you guys T500?
Thanks!

The T9400 is a penryn processor, it should be fairly cool given the fact it low has TDP of 35 w. The fan and the heatsink is much better than the T61, so it expel more hot air than the the T61.
Also, one of the reason that your laptop is hotter, is the fact that some drivers are not yet optimised in the Win 7

I have a T9400 @2.53 and it run cool all the time. Fan is never really on but when it is, it is quiet. I use my laptop a lot while sitting on the couch. I always have a hard surface underneath it though to prevent suffocation.
My palm rests are never "warm" either.

you probably nned the warranty service to get a closer look at it, since the problem you describe is weird to say the least.

I am running at 36 degrees Celcius on a T500 - T9400 CPU using Vista Business 64bit. I must also add that I am using a cooling station without the fan running. Essentially this provides more space under the computer for air to flow. I do not know what my temperature will be if I removed the cooling stand.
