Brand new T410s hangs often

Apologies for my noobiness - is a platter drive a normal non-ss drive?

I don't have any laptop drives I can put in, unfortunately. Is there a way to even more thouroughly test the SSD (since I'm assuming you still think this is the problem?). ?

Maybe temporarily install Ubuntu to the SSD and see if it runs properly. Ubuntu seems to want a data partition as well as a swap partition, but the swap partition may be optional... Maybe a Linux user can chime in here; my experience with Linuces is miniscule.

Some Updates

- I've booted in the Lenovo diagnostics and did a long test of the SSD. No Problems.

- I've booted in Safe Mode (Win7) and it works without hanging. So it must be a service or something that runs besides what boots in Safe Mode? I'm quite surprised that no-one's run into this type of issue before.

So enabling any service causes the hanging to return?

No, no - enabling all default services causes the hanging, so it's one (subset) of them.

I ended up reading a ton on the internet, and ended up over this dicussion - http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBMQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fsocial.answers.microso... - which has on the order of 50,000 replies, and where similar issues are discussed, with much blame put on the USB drivers. Upon unplugging anything I had put in a USB, and restarting the T410s, it stopped hanging. This isn't a solution, but I think we've found the source. I'll update as I find more.

Maybe try BlackViper's bare-bones Windows 7 service configuration? He has a registry file tool on his site that generates a .reg that you just run to set the services to the bare-bones configuration.
