Can I connect a large display to T500 or W500?

I am planning to buy a T500 or W500 and want to use it with an external 2560 x 1600 pixel display (dual link dvi) later. At 75 Hz and 24 bits per pixel, this would require a bandwidth of almost 7 Gbit / s. Is this possible, e. g. using the advanced minidock?

T500 and W500 can support this resolution through the displayport, which is included on the laptop itself.

Most large displays don't have a display port. If you want a display port, you have to spend much more money. It would be much cheaper to buy a different notebook. This makes presently no sense to me. If I use Lenovos display port to DVI cable: It looks as if dual link (which is needed for the full bandwidth) is not supported. What about the advanced minidock?

advanced mini dock should support the dual link dvi function for W500, not sure whether the T500 supports that. T61p which is the predecessor supports a 2560 x 1600 resolution. There are displayport to dvi-d dual link adapter available on the market.

it is supported even by simply USB cable ..... some newer LCD use new technique calles displaylink

That this is possible with the W500 was also mentioned by others, although people from the german Lenovo support denied it. Nevertheless, I would prefer the T500 because the 1680x1050 Display seemed to be brighter than that of the W500. I really would love if someone from the Lenovo team here could confirm or deny that it is also possible with the T500.

With USB2.0 I certainly do not expect 7 Gbit/s.
