I returned the noisy T520 with 7200 rpm HDD back to the vendor and bought one with an SSD drive instead. I could not believe it when I turned on the laptop and it was completely silent!

 

My new T520 is very fast and I am pleased with it. I am able to use the data from my old HDDs. Problem solved!
